Artificial Nail Fungus – Is It Real?

artificial nail fungusHow Real Is Artificial Nail Fungus

Yes, artificial nail fungus is real. But the term is a little misleading. Nail fungus is nail fungus. To say that nail fungus is artificial is a play on words. The term comes from women who wear artificial nails and develop a fungus underneath the nail that the artificial nail is covering.

Artificial nails are here to stay. It is rare today not to find women that don’t wear them at one time or another. The problem is that these nails can do more harm than good if there isn’t enough attention paid to the toenails or fingernails that these false nails cover.

It is common for those who are used to covering up their natural nails to make them appear more beautiful. However, women have been known to use artificial nails to cover up nail fungus infections which is where the term artificial nail fungus comes from.

Unfortunately, this does not cure the problem, but only makes it worse. Let me explain what I mean. Nail fungus grows in a environment that is moist, dark, and where there isn’t a lot of air that can circulate around the feet. Proper air circulation is a must if you are going to attempt to cure artificial nail fungus.

When false nails are applied over the original nails that are already infected, it creates an environment that is dark, moist and void of any air circulation. The infected nail now reacts even faster than before. And, if not taken care of, the possibility of losing the infected nail becomes quite real.

Artificial nail fungus infections are more common among the toenails then the fingernails. However, it is not umcommon to see artificial nail fungus on the fingernails. But, due to the hands not being closed off from the air that circulates around them like the feet are. You don’t see fungal infections on the finger nails as much.

But please note that any finger nail that isn’t natural but attached to the real finger nail is a huge contributor to the spread of the fungal infections. It is understandable that when the nails look yellowed because of the infection, the natural inclination is to put it out of sight and hide them because of the stares you get.

The Right Environment For Artificial Nail Fungus

But know that when you hide the nails under artificial nails, you are creating a more enabling environment that will foster the faster growth and spread of the fungus. So, while the nail is covered, no one else of course sees the nail while it keeps getting destroyed and the condition worsens.

If this gets to the extreme, you may not even be able to hide it any longer as the nail becomes so bad that it is virtually impossible to even apply the artificial nails. This is the reason it is better for you to nip the “monster” in the bud.

The spread of artificial nail fungus infection is even more common among women than men because of the flourishing beauty industry. It is common fact that women these days visit nail shops where professional nail experts help apply the artificial nails they want.

Now, it’s very easy for women to get their pedicures and manicures done for them at these shops and because of this, nail spas are very rampant and well patronized by women and even some men.

However, these same shops which are a source of satisfaction to women, can also be a source of sadness. As they go to beautify and sculpt their nails, they can become infected from the tools that are being used if they are not disinfected properly. Nail fungus can spread from one person to another by using the same tools without even knowing it.

In closing, you can prevent nail fungus by remembering to always check your nails frequently for any cuts, discoloring, or abnormalities. Try to wear shoes that allow good air circulation and if possible stay away from nails that are not natural. Artificial nail fungus is real and can cause severe problems if not taken care of properly.
